Piriform's CCleaner is the best thing you can add to your computer.  This program will clean temp files, internet cache/cookies/history, recycle bin, and more.  It also has a minimal Registry Cleaner, which is great because some registry cleaners do too much and delete needed entries.  This is also a free app.  It can easily be set to run during start-up or shutdown.
